Sonos is set to redefine the category they helped pioneer with the upcoming release of Sonos Arc. An imaginative premium soundbar, Arc is specced to handle Dolby Atmos, and optimise the audio profile of any other content, for immersive theatre-like multi-directional sound.
Built in close collaboration with award-winning audio engineers, Arc has been designed with a low profile and a minimalist aesthetic. The body is defined by a single plastic grille covered with more than 76,000 holes, carefully moulded using manufacturing techniques like thermoforming and CNC drilling.
With built-in voice control supporting Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, the smart soundbar uses 26% less power than the Sonos Playbar, rounding out at just 4.3W for efficiency. But this doesn’t mean any compromises have been made, with Arc featuring 11 high-performance drivers that help deliver an ultra-wide three-dimensional soundstage and handle customisable features like Speech Enhancement, to clarify dialogue, and Night Sound, to intelligently temper loud effects like explosions and gunfights in films.
The acoustic-driven design has also allowed for easy expansion, with complementary devices like the third-generation Sonos Sub and Sonos Five — a new iteration of Play:5 — able to further enhance performance when connected. All devices will also come with a new Sonos S2 smartphone app with support for higher resolution audio and an updated interface.
Sonos Arc (RRP AU$1399), Sonos Sub (RRP AU$999) and Sonos Five (RRP AU$749) are available for pre-order today on sonos.com, and available globally starting June 10.
