In line with the brand’s environmental philosophy, Nudie Jeans have collaborated with Australian sustainable textile company Waverley Mills to produce a blanket made from recycled jeans. The partnership behind the Ture NJ x Waverley Mills recycled blanket was initiated at Legacy Summit — a sustainability conference in Sydney — when the CEO of Nudie Jeans Australia, Bryce Alton, met with Andrew Cuccurullo from Waverley Mills.
To make the blanket, shredded jeans were blended by Waverley Mills with locally produced wool and recycled polyester. The result is a beautifully warm blanket in varying shades of soft light blue — perfect for colder evenings at home.
“This was a huge opportunity for us to use jeans that have been handed in from consumers and couldn’t be repaired or adapted to the Nudie Jeans Re-use program. It was also the perfect occasion to collaborate with a local manufacturer, and create a closed-textile-loop in Australia.”
Bryce Alton, CEO of Nudie Jeans Australia
An enticing addition to any bedroom or living room, the Ture NJ x Waverley Mills recycled blanket will be released in the coming weeks — available at Nudie Jeans Repair Shops in Australia and select David Jones stores. For Nudie Jeans members, there will be a limited quantity released on nudiejeans.com.
