Australian brand, Aesop is a household name when it comes to all things skin, hair and body. Their considered formulations are a go-to for many, with a long list of retail locations across the world. In fact, their stores have become highly regarded for their unique and contemporary interiors. Adding to a formidable list of international designers, fellow Australian, Henry Wilson is the brains behind two of their Sydney spaces. In his new collaboration with the team at Aesop, Wilson has designed their first dedicated homewares piece in the form of the Brass Oil Burner.
Locally crafted from solid brass using an ancient wax moulding technique, each Brass Oil Burner will develop a distinct patina with use over time. After a period of material experimentation, brass was inevitably selected for its superior heat transfer properties and warm tactility. In keeping with Aesop’s affinity for all things organic and unique, Wilson was inspired by asymmetry and the beauty in imperfection. The oil burner weighs one kilogram and presents as a series of soft curves that morph into each other for a gentle object that complements the ritual of candle burning.
Alongside the release of the Brass Oil Burner, Aesop’s Béatrice Oil Burner Blend is the fourth in a range of aromatic concoctions for the home. This blend gives off a woody, citrus scent and features notes of Patchouli and Cedar Atlas. The Béatrice Oil Burner Blend and Brass Oil Burner work in partnership to fill a space with an alluring scent while acting as a timeless piece of decor for the home.
