Mr. Leight is an exciting new eyewear collaboration between father and son duo Larry and Garrett Leight. The pair are no strangers to creating successful eyewear brands, with Larry founding Oliver Peoples in 1987 and Garrett following in his footsteps with his own label, Garrett Leight California Optical. With decades of valuable experience between them, they aim to bridge the gap between generations with their range of exclusive, high-quality frames.
Mr. Leight evokes a quiet sense of luxury, with the glamorous jet-set era a particular point of inspiration for the designers. The stylish eyewear brand pays tribute to classic designs of the past whilst looking to contemporary culture for influence. The debut collection features a distinctly Californian style, taking design cues from their native city of Los Angeles with some of the frames named after iconic streets in that area. Their overall vibe is reminiscent of the aspirational Slim Aarons aesthetic with a twenty-first century edge. Think long, sun-drenched days by the pool in the Hollywood Hills.
The passion that Larry and Garrett share for eyewear is evident in the incredible level of detail employed at every stage of the process. Each element, right down to the screws used are custom engineered by the brand. All hand finished in Japan, each pair of glasses features custom materials that are unique to the label. The collection showcases one-of-a-kind acetate hues developed alongside the oldest acetate house in Japan; a thirty-year relationship Larry Leight has nurtured. Seen throughout both the sunglass and optical ranges is an assortment of precious metals including real gold, silver and rose gold. Both stylish and comfortable, Mr. Leight’s unique styling and advanced manufacturing techniques come together to deliver an evolved, sophisticated eyewear collection.
