Nestled among the rugged coastline of North Zealand, Denmark is a contemporary renovation by Norm Architects that draws design inspiration from its abundant natural surroundings. Seaside Abode is described by the architects as ‘Scandic-Bohemian’ – a combination of sleek Scandinavian design and organic, textural elements. The zen-like interiors of this coastal home in Denmark remind guests to slow down and admire the views that are visible through the wide expanse of floor-to-ceiling windows, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The home boasts an array of raw, natural materials that directly reflect the incredible landscape in which it sits. Stone and timber elements have been incorporated as hard surfaces in kitchens and bathrooms as well as furniture and smaller decor pieces. These neutral, earthy tones are mixed with subtle, muted hues that are introduced through soft linen and ceramic pieces in deep ochres and faded blues to mimic the sweeping dune vegetation and sea beyond. The result is a feeling of immersion into the natural setting where days are meant to be enjoyed slowly and peacefully.
