Situated in a heritage-listed apartment building in Melbourne’s CBD is the innovative Flinders Lane Apartment by Clare Cousins Architects. The boutique AirBnB in Melbourne measures just 7.5 metres x 10 metres but offers open plan living and two bedrooms as well a stylish kitchen and bathroom. Through innovative partition systems and clever storage solutions, the architects have used the available space to create a warm, inviting apartment in the heart of the city that you can experience for yourself.
The design concept for the apartment originated from the clients being inspired by Japanese architecture, in which small spaces are common and architects must use clever methods to achieve comfortable spaces. The small footprint of this apartment gave the Melbourne architects creative license to divert from standard design decisions, looking outside of the box for ideas. Affordable plywood joinery was employed to separate living zones from sleeping quarters without the need to build new walls. The tactile material keeps the interior bright and allows the abundant natural light to bounce around. The built-in joinery also houses a small study nook and a heap of storage compartments; a necessity in small apartments.
This beautifully unique AirBnB in Melbourne is as central as it gets. It puts you within walking distance to the city’s top restaurants like Chin Chin, as well as the best spots for shopping such as Incu and Saturdays NYC. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Melbourne that forgoes the stuffiness of a hotel, this is an awesome way to live like a local and experience amazing interior architecture at the same time.
