With a name that sounds like the next installment of the James Bond franchise and an interior design that actually wouldn’t look out of place in that world, the Sky Loft apartment in Sydney is the ultimate luxury inner-city stay. The sub-penthouse is available to book through Contemporary Hotels; a company with a unique portfolio of luxury accommodation. They have a stable of phenomenal properties around Australia, with a few choice international selections too, all ready to book for your next getaway. Having stayed in one of their stunning houses before, we were already aware of the next-level luxury that would be awaiting us at Sky Loft. But when we opened the door and stepped foot inside the apartment, the beautiful space still took us by surprise.
As you enter Sky Loft you’re greeted by a large, open-plan living and dining space. An enormous balcony runs along one entire side of the apartment with the most stunning view of Sydney we’ve ever seen. We arrived in the evening after the sun had set, and experienced the city skyline in its full, lit-up glory.
The styling and decor of the apartment is quite masculine with a 70s feel; the kind of place you’d hang out with a highball of your favourite whisky in hand. Aged brown leather couches are paired with dark hardwood floors. The kitchen’s white marble island offsets the dark wooden cupboards and mirrored splashback. It all feels very warm and comforting.
Sky Loft’s lounge area is a beautiful place to simply relax, with or without the whisky. Either take in the magnificent view outside or watch something on the huge projector, which is connected to Foxtel as well as a SONOS system for excellent audio.
The warm styling continues into the apartment’s three bedrooms, each of which has its own bathroom. The rooms also all have incredible unobstructed views of the city and they all have access to the apartment-spanning balcony. The spacious master bedroom is simply phenomenal. It comes complete with a separate wardrobe area and spa behind the bed. When you have a shower in the giant ensuite, under the double-head shower fittings, you can actually see a reflection of the Harbour Bridge in the mirrors; pretty spectacular.
Sky Loft is found in inner-city Sydney, in the lively neighbourhood of Darlinghurst. It’s surrounded by bars, restaurants, galleries, and shops aplenty. Potts Point is also only a stone’s throw away, opening up another huge culinary and cultural area ripe for exploring. We took advantage of the stellar location by strolling down to Buffalo Dining Club for dinner. Their exceptional Italian food and wine offering really hit the spot.
