What do you get when you put an architecture firm, kitchen manufacturer, and a set of horticulturalists together? Well, the answer seems to be this stunning residence in Melbourne named Mont Albert B&W House. Made in collaboration with Ben Callery Architects, Cantilever Interiors, and the horticulturalist owners of the house, the home’s design is clean, open, and bright.
Naturally, the kitchen is the centrepiece, with a black, white, and timber palette that informed the aesthetic of the other rooms too. In an open plan style, the kitchen sits between the dining and living areas. These spaces are bathed in natural light that comes in from the north-facing clerestory windows that sit under a slanting roof.
Outside, the brilliant green lawn offers a nice contrast to the black of the house’s exterior, and together with the asymmetric shape, makes it look like a beautiful, modern Australian family home.
