When a luxury resort is owned, operated, and designed by a highly acclaimed architect, you know it’s going to look outstanding. Such is the case for the newly opened Soori Bali, found on the Indonesian island’s south west coast. The architect in question is Soo K. Chan, a man who’s left his mark globally in the form of impeccably designed hotels, commercial buildings, and private residences. Soori Bali is one of his latest creations, and one of the first under his luxury Soori brand.
The resort is hidden away amongst mountains, rice fields, and the ocean, offering a truly tranquil experience. It’s beautifully crafted from local materials like paras kelating, which is a sandstone that’s manually extracted from a nearby river. The resort’s design is super modern, but it’s these details that help lend it a unique and more authentic edge. In addition to sourcing materials locally, Soori Bali remains committed to supporting local communities throughout its operation too. This is executed through things like purchasing 85% or more of their ingredients, goods, and services where possible locally. Plus, they’ve established and joined various education initiatives in the surrounding communities.
Philanthropy aside, Soori Bali looks like a truly remarkable place to stay. It offers 48 villas and residences, as well as a 10 room estate for those who really want to treat themselves. The villas offer choices of mountain, beach, or ocean views as well as their own private pools. The resort also offers a wellness spa if relaxing by the pool or beach isn’t quite enough for you.
