Picture yourself being treated to a fine-dining, modern Mexican meal, sitting at the ocean’s edge with the most spectacular view out to the horizon. Or drinking cocktails as you watch the sunset reflected in a luxurious private pool in front of you. At Mar Adentro, San José del Cabo in Mexico, that’s exactly what you can do.
Normally, we prefer a smaller boutique hotel over a large one, but for Mar Adentro, we’ll make an exception. The 205-room hotel is found on the edge of the Baja California Sur, a popular resort destination, however you’re hardly at risk of running into too many other people here. Mar Adentro spans an impressive eight acres and is designed to allow for privacy to its inhabitants.
The Mar Adentro’s architecture is simply outstanding, comprising of crisp white walls and clean lines. Miguel Angel Aragonés, the architect behind the resort, aimed to champion the ocean and horizon in his design. As a result, there are open spaces abound, allowing for minimal separation from inside and outside.
