Doing the weekly grocery run on Sunday and collecting your delivery at the same time. This is now entirely possible with Australia Post Parcel Lockers. Purchases can be delivered directly to the most convenient Parcel Locker location for you, and being open 24/7 means you can collect them whenever you want. To top things off – it’s free to use.
We tried out a Parcel Locker for a recent online purchase and everything went really smoothly. After putting in the details of the Parcel Locker as the shipping address for the purchase, you receive a text message and e-mail to notify you when your items have been delivered. Once you’re at the lockers and ready to collect, you just enter your unique code onto the touchscreen panel, or scan the barcode from the e-mail, and your locker pops open for you. We were stoked at how quick the entire process is, and we were in and out of there in no time at all. There are over 200 locker locations across Australia, and not just alongside Post Offices; they have them in some petrol stations and convenience stores too.
Something that a lot of people don’t know is that you can actually get packages delivered to PO Boxes; they’re not just used for letters. If your parcel is too big to fit into the box, the Post Office will keep it safe for you until you can collect it. A PO Box is a great option if you tend to get quite a bit of stuff sent to you and you don’t want it all going to your home or work address. 24/7 accessibility is a bonus for those who are time poor during business hours.
With Parcel Collect, you can choose to have your purchases delivered straight to your local participating Post Office, where they’ll keep your packages safe for you until you can collect them. Extended trading hours at some locations also means it’ll be easy to find a time to drop in to pick up your parcel.
