Like a cold beer on the first sweltering afternoon in summer, a long awaited pairing has finally been realised. Two brands whose styles go hand in hand have created a collection that seems so natural you’re left to wonder why it didn’t happen sooner. Sunday Somewhere and Insted We Smile have come together to create the aptly named Let’s Do It On A Sunday Insted; a cohesive range of sunglasses and menswear that represents a perfect blend of the two brands.
Both brands share a similar creative vision; to make premium yet relaxed pieces that wouldn’t look out of place on the beach or at a bar. Luke Stedman of Insted We Smile and Dave Allison of Sunday Somewhere, share 10 years of friendship, which truly shows through how naturally their brands have been brought together in the collaboration.
The first part of Let’s Do It On A Sunday Insted takes form in the release of two new eyewear styles. They’re called Kai and Spike, and both come in three different finishes. As always with Sunday Somewhere eyewear, only the best materials are used. Italian acetate is used to make the frames, which come in either matte or glossy for each style. The lenses are coated with Italian CR39 resin with UV protection too. It’s easy to see the influence of Insted We Smile in both Kai and Spike; the masculine designs have a casual, surfy aesthetic while remaining premium.
A collection of men’s apparel has just launched to round-out the collaboration between the two brands. Relaxed t-shirts, casual shirts and shorts – which will all be sure to become mandatory wear come summer – form the range. Again the premium pieces have a strong beach-side look and feel to them, designed to fit in well at any location on an easy Sunday. One of our favourite pieces from the collection is the Day Time Slays shirt. The off-white cotton shirt is a super versatile piece and its hand drawn wave pattern throughout adds a really unique dimension.
