At Hey Gents, we’re always on the lookout for new ways to simplify things and cut down on the unnecessary stuff in life. That’s why we’re huge fans of great men’s slim wallets; they leave no space for all the random bits and pieces which always end up accumulating in traditional wallets. Recently I’ve been trying out a couple of slim leather wallets from Garzini to see how they go in simplifying my everyday carry.
The brand was launched by two guys who share a passion for good style and creating quality products to make men’s lives easier. They built on the idea of the magic / flip wallet and combined it with super high quality leather to create a very appealing and highly functional slim wallet for men.
When I first saw their Essenziale card holder, I was surprised to see how thin it actually is. It was supposed to be able to hold up to 16 cards, but I didn’t see how it could without looking bulky. Needless to say, I filled it to capacity and you wouldn’t even be able to tell that it held so much! It remained slim and pretty light too. I put it into the back pocket of my jeans and didn’t feel or see it sag or bulk at all.
Another thing which impressed me before I even tried it was how nice the leather looked and felt. Garzini use a minimal amount of finishes on their wallets to keep the character of the leather intact. They’re all handmade too so you can see the fine detailing in the stitching, and it makes you appreciate the product a lot more. The leather is soft to touch and feels really premium. All the wallets come in three different colours and finishes; Marrone Rossiccio, which is a matte dark brown, Grigio Carbone, a matte dark grey and Nerissimo, an elegant black nappa.
Admittedly, I was pretty excited to try the flip component of the wallet. Garzini use a system called Versaflex which essentially secures your cash in your wallet for you. All you have to do is is fold your note in half, place it on one side of the interior of the wallet, flip, and just like that your note is now safely placed under the straps. What that meant for me when I was testing them out was there was no rushed and awkward stuffing of notes into my wallet when I received change at the shops. The whole process was super simple and quick.
I tried out both the Essenziale card holder and the Essenziale Pezzini, which has the addition of a coin pocket. This also came in super handy when receiving back change when I was out because the pocket opens up really wide so I was able to easily place it in there quickly. It also made it a lot clearer to see which coins I had in there, and I ended up using them up quicker because I didn’t have to spend ages trying to find the right change when paying for stuff.
Ultimately I liked the card holder model a fraction more because it’s a bit thinner, but they’re both miles ahead of any traditional wallet I’ve ever used. Garzini have created a slim wallet for men with a unique design that will be sure to simplify anybody’s daily carry.
