Modern Boutique Hotel In Hollywood | Mama Shelter LA Review

What trip to California would be complete without a stay in Hollywood? I was, as expected, pretty excited that it was our last stop before leaving LA. Before I got to explore the streets to try to spot familiar faces from movie screens, I checked into Mama Shelter. The location of this place was great and also within walking distance of the more touristy side of things like the Hollywood Walk of Fame if that’s what you’re looking to do.Mama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter was probably the most unique hotel we stayed in on this USA trip; it was super modern and had some pretty cool quirks to it. To be honest, my first impression of it wasn’t great because the lift was broken, so we had to drag our bags up the stairs to our room, but once I saw where we were staying, all was totally forgiven. It was a clean space with a kind of sexy vibe to it, thanks to the glowing red lighting around the bed. It also featured an iMac that acted as a TV which was a welcome addition. In terms of the design of the room, it had some nice wooden accents throughout to offset all the bright colours and patterned carpet.

Despite these unusual look, the room retained a pretty minimal feel – especially the bathroom which was all really modern in black and white. There were some nice artistic touches throughout the room too like film scripts strewn throughout, which was fitting of the location. I found the whole feel of the space really interesting and different to other hotel rooms; it seemed like it would be really open and welcoming of anyone who passes through.Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA ReviewDownstairs at the hotel they have their own bar, restaurant and coffee shop, all in the same space. Like our room it had a really unique and eclectic fit-out, complete with chalk drawings on the ceiling and mismatched chairs on the tables. The food was great and we had a really awesome breakfast there.

Mama Shelter is located just around the corner from some pretty good shops like Amoeba Music and an Urban Outfitters. There’s also a tonne of places around it to eat and we ended up having dinner at a place called Stella Barra Pizzeria. The pizza here was incredible and you could definitely tell that the dough was super fresh.Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA Review Mama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter LA ReviewMama Shelter has a few different locations around the world which all share unconventional design but with local touches. I thought it was a great place to stay when I was in Hollywood and would love to go back there some day.
