Hotel Tonight App | Discounted Hotel Rates & Free Upgrades

I had to head down to Melbourne last week for an impromptu presentation. I don’t usually do last minute trips because I like to plan everything ahead of schedule, especially hotel accommodation. I usually spend about $300 per night and I try to book a few weeks ahead so that I can take advantage of better rates. But given the circumstances, I didn’t really have a choice this time… so I decided I’d try an app called Hotel Tonight, which promises to give great last minute hotel deals from a curated list of hotels.Hotel Tonight Booking
It’s called hotel tonight because it helps you find a place to stay for that night, but unwilling to take that risk I decided to try and book something in advance. The app does allow you to book for tomorrow, or up to a week in advance, so I searched for hotels around Melbourne the night before I left Sydney.

Immediately, I was presented with 15 hotels to choose from and all of them were discounted. I figured that if I was going to use this app, I wasn’t going to pay the same price as what I normally would for hotels, so I gave myself a hotel budget of $400 for the two night trip. There was a selection of basic, solid, hip and lux hotels. I was immediately drawn to two hotels and decided that I’d try both, one on each night I was in Melbourne.

Booking on the app was very easy. I just tapped “book now”, checked the details were correct and then tapped “continue”. The final step involved tracing the Hotel Tonight logo on the screen, I guess it was to ensure that I had read the T&C’s and did not unintentionally book a room.Hotel Tonight App Australia Hotel Tonight App Australia The two hotels I chose were The Royce Hotel and The Blackman. Check-in was smooth at both hotels and I got upgraded to superior rooms for both!! Now that was unexpected for a discounted rate.

The experience of booking through the app was easy and I was pleasantly surprised by the upgrades at each hotel. I would definitely use it again, here’s a link to the Hotel Tonight app and if you feel so inclined, you can tip me by entering JVUONG9 when you register so that both you and I get a $30 credit 😉
